Longville-Turtle Racing Capital
Monday, August 07, 2017
When people think of Minnesota they think of lakes and probably St. Paul, the capital of Minnesota. Longville is also a capital, the turtle racing capital of the world! Each week in the summer Longville, located in Cass County, hosts turtle racing downtown. The street is shut down with food and activities. Some weeks see over 200 racers for the coveted awards of fastest and slowest turtle. The population of Longville skyrockets from about mid-May to Labor Day. Two very popular and beautiful Minnesota lakes are located in Longville, Long Lake and Woman Lake. Long Lake is known for an abundance of bird viewing, including loons and bald eagles. Pike fishing is also very popular. See all of the beauty of Longville from a float plane, which flies out of Longville’s airport. The end of June visit for the “Turtle Town Art Fair/Car Show.” Each month includes music in the park. Longville is a part of a few fall events including Oktoberfest and a fall colors tour with Walker and Hackensack.
Longville is a quaint lake town that's fun all year, but especially in the beautiful summer months. Bustling with activities, Longville can't be missed!
