Pine River-A Stop on the Trail
Monday, August 21, 2017
Pine River is a beautiful city located about halfway along the 120 mile Paul Bunyan Bike Trail which goes from Crow Wing State Park to Lake Bemidji State Park. The trail, on an old railroad trail, runs right through this beautiful city that is home to the only known pair of Paul Bunyan’s baby boots- who would know Paul was ever that small!
To see and learn about the lore surrounding Paul Bunyan and all the attractions in Pine River visit the beautiful chamber building which was built in 2000 made from 100 year old Norway and Red Pines. The area is home to over 400 lakes within a 30 mile radius. The Pine River flows through town and is a designated canoe route. The Cass County Fair takes place in Pine River at the end of June each year. Duck Races are held each Friday in the summer at Pine River Dam with a chance to win great prizes.
The annual Pine River Bluegrass Festival takes place each year at the end of August. The family friendly event is in its twelfth year. There's bluegrass musicians from all over the United States. If all of these reasons aren't enough to visit Pine River- at least stop for the friendly, genuine, small town atmosphere.
