The Beauty of Crow Wing County

Crow Wing County is on the eastern portion of Region 5. The county is well known for its natural beauty, including the lakes. There are 400 in the county and 75 rivers. Crow Wing State Forest has beautiful hardwoods, wet prairies and conifer bogs. The Pine River State Water Trail and Mississippi River State Water Trail are beautiful waterways found near Greer Lake Campground. Tourism is one of the major industries in the county. Brainerd is one of the largest cities in Central Minnesota and includes the popular Paul Bunyan Land Amusement Park. Nisswa has lots of great shopping. Baxter has beautiful water parks, lakes, and shopping. Breezy Point is known for golf and natural beauty. The Crow Wing County Museum located in Brainerd is a “can't miss” destination. Look back at the vast history of the county all the way back to the days the railroad came to the area. The museum is on the National Register of Historic Places and includes three floors of exhibits. The museum celebrated a big anniversary at the beginning of June 2017 during Brainerd History Week. They celebrated the construction of the original Crow Wing County Sheriff's Residence and Jail that was finished in 1917.
Healthcare, high tech and manufacturing are growing industries in Crow Wing County. Asencus, a technology company is major employer in the county. Essentia Health is the largest employer in the county. Tourism locations top the list with some of the highest employee numbers. Clow Stamping is a manufacturing company that employees over 400 people. With these industries coupled with great schools and affordable housing, Crow Wing County is a great place to live and work.
