Wadena County is on the north west edge of Region 5. Wadena County has strategic access to rails, trails and roads and is beautifully positioned between farmland and forests. The area is well poised for manufacturing growth, especially with available properties in the Wadena Industrial Park. With beautiful lakes and 6 cities: Wadena, Sebeka, Menagha, Verndale and Aldrich, Wadena County is a great place to raise a family and settle down.
There are plenty of places to “play” in Wadena County. A major highlight is the Crow Wing River Canoe Trail which winds through the county from north to south starting in Menagha. There are also lots of snowmobile trails to enjoy in the winter months. The Huntersville and Lyons State Forests showcase beautiful outdoor landscapes. Enjoy a balanced work and family life in the charming and unique small towns.
The Maslowski Wellness and Research Center in Wadena was built after the 2010 E4 tornado that tore through town. The two story facility has a walking track, pool, workout center, community meeting spaces and a racquetball court. Wadena also boasts a neat and unique downtown.
Learn more about the history of Wadena County at the Old Wadena Rendezvous and Folklife Festival held every year in August and organized by the Old Wadena Society. This event features 1840 lifestyle examples, music, storytelling and more and is help along the beautiful Crow Wing River.
The schools feature small town academics but still many extracurricular activities. Caring people, beautiful sights and lots of outdoor activities make Wadena County a great place to live, play and explore!
