Pierz-A Mile Long Main Street and Fun all Year
Monday, March 12, 2018
Pierz’s history can be traced back to German Catholic farmers who started the town and name it Pierz after it was originally incorporated as “Rich Prairie.” Pierz maintains its German heritage with about 60 percent of residents being of German descent. The main street of Pierz is a mile long with businesses from boutiques to hardware stores. There’s a furniture store, meat shop, liquor store and pharmacy to name a few more! Pierz has a very nice golf course and a city park along the beach with a playground. There’s also Billig Park with a veteran memorial and two ice skating rinks for winter fun. The American Legion Park also has a ice skating rink and a large playground for the kids.
Pierz knows how to have a good time. There are fun activities spanning the whole year. Garage Sale Days happens every year in April. Rock Roll and Stroll occurs the first Thursday of every month in the summer. There’s a poker walk for those 18 and over, food, prizes and fun for the whole family. Check out all the classic cars lining main street hosted by the Pierz Area Commercial Club. Pierz Freedom Fest is a huge concert held in the middle of July. There’s big musical acts and lots of eating and drinking fun! For the fall and winter fun there’s Oktoberfest to celebrate Pierz’s German heritage. This is a two day event with a fun run, parade, party in the park and a medallion hunt. To kick off the Christmas season there is St. Nick Night. There’s all of Santa’s helpers plus shopping deals, and sleigh rides.
Pierz knows how to have fun. Come here to join the fun as a resident or visitor.
