Walker-On the Shores of Leech Lake
Monday, September 04, 2017
Leech Lake is the third largest lake in Minnesota.
There's plenty of space in the 112,835 acre lake for all sorts of lake recreation including fishing, boating, skiing and tubing to name a few.
Eelpout Festival takes place each year in February and spikes Walker’s population ten times the normal population. It is a festival celebrating the ugly, bottom-dwelling fish. It's an interesting festival that many have never heard of, but once people visit they won't miss it again! The Leech Lake Walleye Tournament takes place in June and benefits local organizations. It's a very popular and fun event!
Moondance Jam and Moondance Jammin’ Country are held each summer in the area.
Walker Bay Days takes place in August and has all the fun of a Minnesota summer festival. A raffle, 5k and volleyball are a few of the fun activities. The Big Dig is the highlight event for kids. Tokens are buried for ages 3-14 with thousands of dollars in prizes to be redeemed. Celebrate fall with “Fall Has it All” in collaboration with Hackensack, Remer and Longville in September. November in Walker includes the “ Festival of Lights” with a town Christmas lights lighting and parade as part of the two day event. Walker has fun and beauty for all seasons! See and experience it for yourself!
