Want to visit a city with some of the best walleye fishing in the State of Minnesota? Backus is the place to be! Pine Mountain Lake, a 1,567 acre lake has some of the best walleye fishing in the state of Minnesota. The lake also has bluegill, crappies, brown bullhead, largemouth bass, northern pike, pumpkinseed, rock bass, walleye, white sucker, yellow bullhead and yellow perch. This is a fishing destination in Minnesota that can’t be missed!
Backus also hosts the region’s largest corn festival every year on the second weekend in August, primarily sponsored by the Backus American Legion. The event has been going on over 40 years and features a parade, craft and food vendors. This event is a great way to celebrate summer and the agricultural economy. End the night with a corn eating contest, street dance and fireworks. Rocky Dock Park is a fun place to bring the whole family on a visit to Backua, to enjoy a summer afternoon.
Backus is located in beautiful lakes and woods setting and is the place to be!
