Deerwood-Come Visit the Woods!
Monday, November 27, 2017
On a drive through north central Minnesota one town that likely stands out is the town with a big deer statue, that's Deerwood. Nestled among land rich with whitetail deer, Deerwood is a beautiful place to be. The small town values and amenities make Deerwood stand out!
The Deerwood Auditorium is newly renovated. It was built in 1935 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built as a Works Progress Administration project and is one of the only surviving buildings like this in Minnesota.
Summerfest takes place in August each year and is a fun gathering for the town! For more summer fun visit Traditions Mini Golf just outside town!
The mountain biking trails as part of the Cuyuna Mountain Biking Trail System, which is near Deerwood, are acclaimed and spread over 25 miles. Trails are marked for everyone from beginner to the most skilled riders. The deep red soil of the trails against the blue skies and beautiful trees is a sight to behold. Watch for eagles, red-tailed hawks and beavers.
Come for the biking and stay in one of three yurts in the Cuyuna State Recreation Area.
