Wadena-A Booming Town

Families from all over are moving to the Wadena area. A town of about 4,000 Wadena is a forward thinking community. The historic storefronts and Art Deco style in the downtown make for fun shopping.

Wadena has a great school system combined with Deer Creek and known as the “Wolverines.” They are known as a “great place to learn and grow.”

The Burlington Northern Depot has a park surrounding it and is on the National Historic Register. It is a central area for summer events with its fountain and beautiful flowers. The Rotary chicken and corn feed and Lion’s club BBQ are both held here in the summer. There's lots of other nice parks throughout Wadena and there's even a 18 hole golf course for all the golf lovers.

The arts are important in Wadena. They have a beautiful auditorium built in 1934 and a local theatre group called the Wadena Area Madhatters Inc. The Greater Wadena Arts League works to promote and encourage arts, diversity and activities in the Wadena area. Wadena Area Concert Association brings all kinds of wonderful concerts to Wadena. Wadena all has a Historical Society and Museum to promote knowledge of Wadena’s history.

The Maslowski Wellness and Research Center in Wadena was built after the 2010 E4 tornado that tore through town. The two story facility has a walking track, pool with a slide, workout center, community meeting spaces and a racquetball court.
