Marquette Honey Farms sells honey all across Minnesota

Thursday, October 13, 2016

Honey may very well run through Bruce Marquette’s veins. His grandfather was a beekeeper in Thief River Falls, and his father kept bees and sold honey in Wisconsin. Bruce grew up with honeybees as an ever-present part of his life.

“I’d always kept bees on the side, even while I was working full-time in radio,” said Bruce.

Bruce met his wife, Lonnie, in 1990 and the two spent the next nine years selling honey and beeswax candles at craft fairs. At that time the couple only managed a dozen or so hives. “Going to the craft shows was a great way to get to know people, get the word out about our product and serve to prime the market,” explained Bruce.
